von Voltaire (Autor)
“Candide” is a French satire published for the first time in 1759 by Voltaire. It begins with a young, Candide, who lives a sheltered life in an Edenic paradise and is optimally motivated by his mentor, Pangloss. The work describes the abrupt cessation of this lifestyle, followed by Candide's slow and painful disillusionment, witnessing and experiencing great difficulties in the world. During the affair, the situations presented to him change him (he even goes so far as to kill the brother of the beloved woman), he realizes that reality is not as explained and arrives, thanks to the example of a farmer, to let go of the reflections philosophical, who have accompanied him for years during his adventures, and to devote himself to work.
